Cookies n Cream Ice-Cream

You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice-cream! Well… maybe not for the ice cream found at your local grocery store. Recently bae had purchased me an ice cream machine. After attempting to make a dairy free ice cream (which failed) I gave up and decided the ice cream game wasn’t for me. But after a couple months passed, I decided to give the ice cream machine another try and make actual ice cream (with dairy). I think my first time I was in a bit over my head with the dairy free version. But this time, it was definitely worth screaming for. This recipe makes the grocery store ice cream look pathetic! It is so creamy, the perfect amount of sweet, and it never lasts more than one day at my parent’s house. My friends rave about it and I think you will too. Give it a try during your May 24 long weekend, it makes about 1 litre of ice cream.

Feel free to use this recipe as a base & switch out the Oreos to suit what you’re craving!

Ingredients

2 cups heavy cream

2 cups half and half cream

1 cup sugar

1 tsp vanilla

1 row of Oreos

Directions

Freeze your ice cream machine bowl based on your machine’s settings (mine works best if left in the freezer overnight). Take one row of Oreos and place them in a ziplock bag. Using a meat mallet, crush the Oreos until your desired size. In a bowl combine all ingredients (except for the Oreos) and mix until sugar has dissolved. Add the mixture to the ice cream machine bowl and let the machine run for 15 mins. Add the crushed Oreos and let the machine run for another 5 mins. Transfer the ice cream into a freezer safe tupperware for storage or transfer to ice cream bowls and enjoy!

Note: if you don’t have an ice cream machine, you can simply add the crushed Oreos into the mixture, transfer it to a freezer safe container and let it freeze until solid.
