Chewy Hazelnut Brownies

I don’t think it’s any surprise that I LOVE baking. It’s one of my favourite things to do, and usually you will see me once a week baking something around the kitchen. With Valentine’s day just around the corner instead of going to the grocery store and making chocolate baskets (which I usually do) I am going to be doing treat boxes and these brownies are on the list. There’s just something about homemade baked goods and gifting it to loved ones that fills my heart with joy. A true favourite, that is made on the regular around here!

If you do make this recipe, would love to hear how it turned out!

16 servings / 15 mins prep / 45 mins total time

Ingredients

½ cup butter

1 cup milk chocolate chips

¾ cup granulated sugar

¼ cup brown sugar

3 eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

½ cup + 2 tbsp flour

2 tbsp cocoa powder

¼ tsp salt (if using salted butter, omit)

½ cup walnuts, chopped

Directions

In a small saucepan over medium heat add the butter and let it melt. Once the butter is melted, add the chocolate chips and stir until fully melted. Alternatively, you can do this in the microwave in 20 second increments. Allow to cool for 10 mins, to avoid your eggs scrambling.

Preheat oven to 350°F and in a 9×9 inch square baking pan line with parchment paper.

Transfer the melted butter and chocolate mixture to a bowl and whisk in both sugars. Mix in the eggs until combined.

Add flour, cocoa powder, salt and walnuts and mix until just combined.

Pour over prepared baking pan and bake for 35 mins, or until the brownies begin to pull away from the edge of the pan.

Allow to cool completely and then cut into 16 pieces and enjoy!
